Special Note to Fellow Bloggers
Please be aware that there are now wonderful tools, like Akismet (http://akismet.com/), for blocking spam comments that drive bloggers nuts. Actually, the number of blocked spam comments to this blog far outnumber the number of legit comments. I occasionally check to see if perhaps a legit comment may have been mistakenly blocked - I've never found one yet! I say this only because, as a heavy blog reader and commenter myself, some of the spam blocking devices (such as Captcha and other word verifiers) used by bloggers are both irritating and noneffective as well. And I always wonder if blog authors who use those devices realize that they often drive potential readers and commenters away. Think about it folks, if you use a word verifier, you are undoubtedly losing many readers and commenters.-

Stalking the Elusive Mushroom – Part III
As part three of this ongoing series, I want to do something that I, at least, have not seen written yet – a discussion of what it is that mushroom hunters do, once they are in the woods, and hard … Continue reading

NYC Onion Culture
I love onions! As both a gardener and a cook, I find the onion fascinating and immensely complex. Because our SW Oregon gardens are literally mud early in the growing season, I’ve had little luck growing onions that needed to … Continue reading
Dreams of Old Men
I’ve had an interesting morning. After having spent yesterday researching how to effectively use tag words, and being somewhat depressed at how much tech progress i’ve literally missed along the way, I began to reminisce about my relatively early introduction to … Continue reading
